I prefer the environmental portrait, because I find that the sitter is more likely to feel relaxed in his or her own surrounding and I also am able to interpret their personality better. I enjoy the thrill of going to the clients home or office and not knowing what to expect, seeing the environment with fresh eyes often picking out details the client has taken for granted because they see it everyday.
Every portrait one observes
is the result of an interaction between the photographer and the sitter
and
what they chose to give and how the photographer
interpreted through the choice of camera, lighting, film, lens and positioning
in that very moment.“
